Countrywide has advised me that i qualify for the hope for homeowners program. I’ve also gotten a letter from?

Sunday Nov 23, 2008

NFCS Housing Community Service and am working with a mortgage specialist who is telling me I can do a short re-fi. Who am i better off working with??? The thing i like about the short re-fi is that it would hopefully address both the first mortgage and line of credit and i’m working through one person vs. trying to have to work with both banks….

Countrywide is desperate to get some good publicity after all the scandals they have been involved with. I think their offer will be amazing. You have to wait and at least see what it is..

Go with NFCS. I know nothing about either program but avoid Countrywide at all costs. Countrywide is infamous for screw ups and problems. Trying to get problems resolved is almost impossible.

I just got off the phone with countrywide this morning. They are just dragging their feet. We qualify for both the Hope for Homeowners and their program called the Nationwide Home ownership Retention Program. Problem is that I can’t seem to get through to anyone that can tell me how to get started on either. Their program is said to begin on December 1st and they are offering a lower fixed rate on your current loan amount. Where the Hope for Homeowners began October 1st and you can Refi for 90% of the current value, which sounds like the better program. Only problem is that your current lender has to agree to those terms. Countrywide claims they are still “reading over the FHA Guidelines at this time” but the lady I spoke to this morning suggested that I go ahead and start the process with another FHA approved lender and by the time we get the ball rolling they should have their act together. Anyone else have any idea what to do?
